In 1976, as the United States celebrated its bicentennial, the thoughts of chartering a chapter milled in the mind of Lake County resident, Isabelle Buckner and there Lambda Nu Omega was chartered in Lake County Illinois. Lambda Nu Omega chapter was distinguished as the first African American Sorority chapter in Lake County Illinois, upon its charter on May 27, 1977 at the Waukegan Public Library. Today, Lambda Nu Omega Chapter has over 50 active members and continue to serve the entrepreneurial, economic, social, physical and mental health needs of the underserved people within the Lake County cities of Zion, Waukegan, North Chicago, Gurnee and Round Lake, Illinois. Lambda Nu Omega continues to be a beacon of succor to the constituents of Lake County. We persevere in the trek to capture a vision fair and are pledged to render service to all mankind.
