Virtual Juneteenth Walk/Run-Celebrate Freedom!
This race commemorates a special date in Black History. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. All event proceeds will support our Lake County scholarship recipients and other community events.
We are so excited to have you join us, and we are grateful for your support!
Registration and participation are easy to complete.
Read the information below then carefully follow the prompts to complete your registration.
- Complete the steps for Registration. Invite family, friends, and co-workers to join you.
- Pick up your Race Bag on Saturday June 4th at 12 noon-2:00PM at Gurnee Police Department Community Room, 100 North O’Plaine Road, Gurnee, IL
- The Race Bag contains a commemorative medal (for the first 100 registrants), a Race Bib, Personal Protection Equipment, and more.
- You pick a date between June 4th– June 19th , you pick the distance (1K, 3K, 5K, 10K, 15K), and you pick the method of completion (walk, run, bike).
- Gather at your chosen location with family and friends to complete the race.
- Once your race is completed, put on your medal, smile, and take a photo. Post the photo on your social media sites using #AKALNO, and send a photo to our Chairperson, Carolyn Burno at ckingburno@att.net.
